Artist's Profile
Amy Smith Age 16 Amy’s passion for nature started early, but only began forming into what it is today at around age 12. Before then, her main interest was dancing, which she still does now in her spare time. Wildlife art came a little later, but has become a regular part of her life. She sees it as another way to learn more about wildlife, as sometimes it takes hours pouring over a painting to see the detailing of a Sparrow’s wing, or all the hidden hues to the Pine Marten’s fur. Amy has taken part in several different types of conservation volunteering, including: residential volunteering on RSPB Insh Marshes in Scotland, serving on the RSPB Phoenix Forum, and helping out at the Rutland Birdfair, which has firmly settled her heart on pursuing a career in wildlife conservation. |
Photographer's Profile
Nathaniel Dargue Age 17 Nathaniel’s dad took him out bird watching from when he was a young boy; here he developed his passion for nature and the great outdoors. This interest quickly blossomed into a desire to capture this beauty he saw in nature and display it into an image for all to see. These desires lead him into photography. He started off by using his dad’s compact camera through a telescope at the age of around 12, before moving on to his dad’s new DSLR camera and large lens, this lasted him through his trip to Costa Rica in April 2011, before he bought himself a new set up in June 2012, from which he never looked back. It has allowed him further to improve his skills and trial new and varying techniques. He takes part in many acts of conservation, he enjoys bird ringing, which is a form of monitoring species and learning new things, as well as a weeks residential volunteering at Insh Marshes RSPB reserve in Scotland. |
